Big Brother Washington

Just when we thought the society we live in was one of the most progressive in the world, it looks as though even freedom of speech has limitations. In the age of technology any American can seemingly voice his or her opinions through any source of technology without the government’s jurisdiction. But here’s the kicker: The Utah Data Center, an estimated $1.5 billion dollar project created by the National Security Agency that can hold yottabytes (the largest unit of informational units) of information. The innocuous sounding name camouflages the reality of how this will affect our every move. The idea behind the UDC is to be an intelligence community that would monitor the internet and other technological devices for the principle of national security. In actuality, the UDC will store every private form of communication in our lives. This means more than just emails and phone calls; the UDC will have access to any internet searches typed, purchases made, receipts encoded – basically a trajectory of every move we make in the modern world.

So how free is the Land of the Free? The surveillance of communication trails that will be made through the UDC suggests the same kind of bugging done through wire-tapping and mail control conducted by the secret police of East Berlin in the 1980’s. At the completion of the UDC’s construction, no American can do so much as shop online without having the action monitored and then reviewed on an individual’s file. But unlike the secret police, trails are not recorded by government officials; the 1 million square foot facility is almost entirely technologically dependent. For a project so dedicated to the prevention of threats established by the computer hacking community, one might expect there to be less reliance on technology alone.

The NSA has been formerly designated as “Never Say Anything”. This depiction is justified now more than ever before. Invasive surveillance is not only provided for the suspicious anymore; everybody is a target. No matter your family history, criminal record, or financial situation, everyone is up for review. The review process of the stored information becomes graphs of our stored information. We become statistics that are to be assessed by government officials. The groceries you bought on your way home from work are now a part of your official government record.

Now this becomes a matter of how much intrusion the modern American will allow. After the boycotts of the internet during the SOPA episode, Americans have made it very clear how far they are willing to go to protect their fundamental rights. Whether this sparks boycotts or protests, the likelihood of rebellion is to be expected by 2013 when the UDC’s construction is complete. At this point it is only a matter of time before this becomes an infamous incident in American history.

    Interesting yet scary read.

  2. BaldEagle says:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

    – 4th Amendment

Another example of how our government continues to violate our Constitutional rights. Your right to privacy is rapidly diminishing all in the name of “national security.” They are LYING to us and people better wake up SOON. This type of access into our personal records is ripe for abuse and Big Brother knows this. Know your Constitutional rights and do not be afraid to stand up for them. I rather die on my feet than live on my knees.

Great job on shedding light on this Utah Data Center. Look into the FEMA camps aka “re-education centers” that have been built all over the country and investigate what “Fusion Centers” are – all under the directive of FEMA. On the surface these facilities are being setup for “continuity of government” and during a time of “civil unrest.” There is more than meets the eye and this rabbit hole goes deep. Thanks to people like you, you are helping shed the light of truth on what is REALLY happening in our country. Don’t lose your way.
