Jail for a Bengal

Nate Webster an achieved Cincinnati Bengal linebacker was sentenced to to 12 years in prison for having sex with a minor. After a very long trial he was finally sentenced on Wednesday in Ohio. The girl was a the daughter of an assistant coach for the Bengals. In April the court convicted him for unlawful sexual conduct to a minor which would have made him face 20 years in jail. However, the jurors decided that he wasn’t guilty of three other charges.

The prosecutors said that Webster had sex with the minor in 2009 when she was 15 years old and told her that he would harm her if she said anything. Webster then admitted that he had sex with her when she was 16 which is the legal age of consent in Ohio. Webster’s attorney, Samms, said in a phone interview that he will try to appeal the case because the charges are “excessive”. Samms also said that it was consent between to partner and that it everything else was fabrication.

Julie Wilson, prosecutor, said that the charges are still standing and lawful. Webster in interviews with the police admits he had sex with the girl at age of 15, however, when they played the tapes in court the attorney said that Webster had been mistaken about the dates. They tried to make a deal with Webster for him to plead guilty and go to jail for 4 years. Webster’s attorney said that he wouldn’t plead guilty to charges that he didn’t commit.
