Sorry, Not Sorry

One of the most trending topics of today is the new and crucial detail of the Mitt Romney- Bain Capital incident.  In the early hours of today, July 12th, documents released a more accurate departure time of Romney from the Boston based private equity firm.

At the release of this information, the Obama campaign began their advance on Romney, stating that he lied about his background and position at the firm to the Securities and Exchange Commission or the SEC, which is a felony, and cannot be trusted. They have labeled him as an “outsourcing pioneer” who has shipped jobs overseas to places like China and India, therefore, depriving American citizens of work.

Romney, in retaliation to the attacks targeted at him, has since called Obama and his team liars and has requested an apology from them. Romney’s campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, stated earlier today:

“President Obama ought to apologize for the out-of-control behavior of his staff, which demeans the office he holds.”

Romney has repeatedly stated that he has had no involvement in Bain’s activity since February 1999 and has not been outsourcing jobs or ran any company that has fallen victim to bankruptcy, which is a recurring trend in some of the clients of Bain Capital.  Obama’s staff however, has refused to issue an apology on the grounds that Romney is a liar, has possibly committed a felony and under normal circumstances, the situation would be under the investigation of the SEC. Obama’s press secretary, Ben LaBolt issued this statement:

“Romney has said he had no authority or responsibility for managing Bain since February 1999, but that has been proven false. He remained CEO, President, Chairman, sole owner and sole shareholder through 2001. Governor Romney either misled the American people about when he left Bain or misled the SEC. Which one is it? The Romney campaign still won’t say.”

The documents filed with the SEC placed Romney as the company’s “sole shareholder,” “controlling personal,” “chief executive officer and president,” and “sole director.” One of the documents placed him in charge as late as 2001- two years after the date he has claimed to have left the company and Obama’s team has continued to use this information as ammunition to question Romney’s position and integrity. As a result, Romney has tried to fight back by using propaganda and other petty advertisement exposing Obama’s deceptive tactics used during his 2008 campaign as well as failing to fulfill promises made during that time.

As it seems, the cards are stacked against Romney and continue to pile up. A recent report from the Boston Globe  announced that a Massachusetts financial disclosure issued by Romney in 2003 stated that he still owned all of Bain Capital in 2002, the same year he was elected Governor.

Is it safe to say Obama and his staff will not be apologizing any time soon?
