Snack Review: Limited Edition Cookie Dough Oreos

Who doesn’t like to eat Oreo cookies and a nice cold glass of milk to go with it? Well, whoever says that they don’t is either: a) lying, b) deprived, or c) lactose intolerant. Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a total health freak, but once in a while I’ll indulge in these bad boys(who can resist them?). Recently, I tried the new limited edition cookie dough Oreos and it encouraged me to do a food review. I also really enjoy writing them anyway. Moreover, these cookies were too good not to write about.

When it comes to snacks, Nabisco doesn’t play around. But Oreos are definitely one of my favorite snacks that they make. Afterall, they have become the best-selling cookie in the US since they first came out in 1912, according to FoodProcessing.com. Fun fact: the Nabisco trademark is actually imprinted on the Oreo cookie. Although the original vanilla kreme-filled oreos will forever prevail, they come in a variety of flavors, from birthday cake to fudge cremes coconut delight. I’ve tried a lot of them but when I was walking through the supermarket and saw the cookie dough Oreos, I totally freaked out.

First of all, I love Oreos as it is already, but when you throw in cookie dough, it’s just a cookie binge waiting to happen. As much as I love cookie dough, I no it’s not healthy to eat, so I try to avoid it; but there was no avoiding these cookies. Now, onto the actual review. The appearance of the creme looked like cookie dough; beige in color and from the side, looked like it had chocolate chips. However, it just smelt like a normal oreo cookie. Cookie dough doesn’t necessarily have a distinct taste, but it is extremely sweet. Because, I tried it with an open mind and didn’t expect it to taste exactly like cookie dough, I was able to really enjoy it, rather than scrutinizing it.

The initial flavor delivers a very sweet taste, which is expected from cookie dough. It also had that brown sugar grittiness texture that you get from eating cookie dough. The aftertaste, however, has almost a coffee hint to it. But I do like coffee flavored things, so I thought it tasted delicious. The only downside for me is that the “chocolate-y chips” added no texture when I was expecting a little crunch. The chips that were blended in were very soft and added a bit of chocolate flavoring. Other than that, I loved these cookies. The overall flavor was tasty and I’ll definitely be buying another box after finishing my current one.
