As you very well may know, Maroon 5 (aka one of the most amazing bands of all time) dropped a single from their new album, “V”, called “Sugar” and it’s 100% amazing. I am firm in my belief that this song and its video will go down in history as one of the best wedding songs of all time, here’s why:
- The Video:
The video is set in LA during December, basically the prime time for weddings in sunny SoCal. Basically, the band travels around via black convertible (because what else would Adam Levine drive?), and “crashes” random weddings. At a few points in the video, we see the band kind of barging in on wedding ceremonies and setting up stages on the dance floor, while unassuming guests watch in confusion. After the stage has been set, the band somehow sneaks in, starts playing, drops a curtain and then the camera pans to capture the reaction of the couples (which was honestly the best part).
- The Song Itself:
With lyrics like “’Cause I really don’t care where you are, I just wanna be there where you are…” it’s easy to tell that this song has made itself a love song for the ages. The catchy chorus and bridge make it a sweet, fun, bubblegummy mix of goodness that (to me at least) never gets old.
- Shock Factor:
I don’t want to keep promoting the video (but I highly recommend watching it, 10 out of 10 stars, guys), but the literal best part of the entire video was watching the reactions of the bride and groom, their faces were what made the video worth watching. Honestly, the pure happiness that I felt from them just made me happy FOR them. Imagine your favorite band crashing your wedding, which is already the best day of your life, to make it THAT much better.
- Adam Levine:
It’s no secret that Maroon 5’s front man, Adam Levine, is a beautiful human being. This video however, shows him in a particularly spectacular light. The fact that he just married Behati Prinsloo before making this video makes it all the more adorable and perfect and gooey and wonderful.
